about the office

The professional development and training office activates are based on the KPIs of the office as per the bylaws; and they can be categorized into three main areas:

    1. Developing the skills of our Sudanese engineers,
    2. Promote the Sudanese engineer within the profession and community,
    3. Provide services that support our engineers and address career challenge

Engineering and engineering skill sets needed in today’s market are constantly changing to keep up with global challenges and the evolving advances in technology. And while engineers all over the globe are working on enhancing their bag of skill sets, the focus is on soft skills such as communication and abilities to cope in a divers multicultural market, and ability to work in a multi-discipline environment. These and other important skills such use of the advanced software's and modeling approaches are necessary for any engineer today to address challenges related with environment, energy , food and water security. Engineering education, professional development programs, vocational schooling and professional societies are evolving to keep up with the 4th Industrial Revolutions.

As an engineering society our main responsibility is to provide a platform that gives our constituents, engineers and engineering students access to information and trainings to help them keep up with the market needs. Being an engineering society abroad that serves the Sudanese engineer includes a increase the professional competencies of Sudanese engineers, enhance the image of Sudanese engineers in the community and reach out to the youth and connect them with other generations and to reach out to engineering sectors and universities in Sudan to exchange experience & support national initiatives. These are amongst the goals of the Professional Development and Training Office to fulfilling these commitments.

In the training program for example, we’ve initiated Career Advisory Series that offers a collection of workshops that support young engineers and upcoming graduates on preparing for the job market, and we are offering series of technical seminars and workshops that cater to different engineering disciplines.

In terms of enhancing the profile of the Sudanese engineer community the PD&T office uses a Distinguished Lecture Series as a platform that present high profile achievement of our Sudanese experts within Qatar.

A key priority for our association is the engagement of our Sudanese engineers in the community and specific spotlight is focused on our young engineering. We engage them as volunteer in preparing for the various activities and workshops that are organized, giving them opportunity to develop soft skills and they get to network with experience Sudanese engineers at the same time. Fresh graduates and young engineers participate as subcommittee members in the PD&T office. The role of young engineers working as part of the SEA-Q Administrative Office helps them develop leadership skills, while their energy and performance fuel the office activates.

The main services the office offers to our members include:

    1. providing them with access to training material,
    2. access to job opportunities by utilizing the network of our members,
    3. guiding them on Engineering Certification processes in Qatar,
    4. registering them with the Sudanese Engineering Council and
    5. mentorship opportunities and career advise.
